Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity involved in national photo petition
(MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Oct. 1, 2009) The United Nations has designated the first Monday of October every year as World Habitat Day. The idea is to reflect on the state of our towns and cities and the basic right of all to adequate shelter. It is also intended to remind the world of its collective responsibility for the future of the human habitat.
Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity (TCHFH) has helped spread the word locally by joining Habitat for Humanity International’s nationwide photo petition. To remind President Obama to make housing a priority, petitioners took pictures of people holding up a sign that says, “It all starts at home.” These pictures were then added to Habitat for Humanity’s Flickr group and will be delivered to President Obama on Monday, October 5.
