A home worth saving
Preserving affordable housing is just as important as creating affordable housing. That's where the A Brush with Kindness program comes in. Last...
This week was all about siding! Some of the volunteers commented that they thought siding would be an easy task that they would finish quickly – they soon learned just how wrong they were. There are many details involved with siding, including leveling and spacing. This can be a slow, tedious process, but our volunteers were energetic and committed, and they made great progress.
On Tuesday, we were joined by a group from Medtronic led by Andrea Larson. On Saturday, Sharon Mason brought her group – Sharon’s BC Builders – out to site for a great day of camaraderie. Individual volunteers helped out on Thursday and Friday.
During the lunch break on Saturday, Rhonda and Anna led the group in a discussion regarding affordable housing and its impact on the community. Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity has developed a fun and engaging curriculum for volunteers to learn about affordable housing. The program is called Build. Think. Act. and the idea is to explore housing issues through short activities that get people thinking and talking about challenges and solutions.
We’ll be out on site for the next 2 weeks. If you’re available, please join us for a day or two! We’d love to have you!
