Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity : 4:15 PM on October 15, 2024
The recent Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project was nothing short of extraordinary. From September 29 through October 4, more than 4,000 people gathered with Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity and Habitat for Humanity International to cast a global spotlight on the importance of affordable housing. Volunteers worked on 30 homes, launching Twin Cities Habitat's construction efforts at The Heights on St. Paul's East Side!
We have many people to thank for their contributions in making this massive, week-long event a huge success. In fact, we really can’t thank you all enough.
Thank you to our sponsors at all levels for using their time and sponsorship dollars to help us build forward in creating a more equitable Twin Cities. Without your support, this event simply does not happen.
Thank you to our in-kind donors who supplied everything from important building materials and equipment to the coffee and water that kept us energized and hydrated.
Thank you to loyal community partners for choosing to live out their own mission during the project, and further support affordable housing and racial equity in the Twin Cities.
Thank you to our elected officials who built alongside with us throughout the week, demonstrating their commitment to public service and supporting Habitat’s mission.
Thank you to the faith leaders who bestowed a blessing on us each morning after breakfast. Volunteers and staff headed out to the build site with positive attitudes and open hearts.
Thank you to our inspiring Habitat homeowners who spoke at various programs throughout the week, sharing their personal stories and reminding us all why we were gathered to build. And thank you to the homeowners who volunteered on site either building or working with hospitality, also sharing their time and talents with the community.
Thank you to the many, many vendors who helped us execute this historic event. Your expertise in event logistics was essential to making this a smooth and enjoyable experience.
Thank you to everyone who supported the Carter Work Project by liking a Facebook post, sharing a news story, or subscribing to our newsletter. Spreading the word is crucial to advancing Twin Cities Habitat’s mission.
We are especially grateful to our volunteers and the impact they’ve had on Habitat families. Habitat for Humanity’s most well-known volunteer may have said it best:
“Throughout my life, I've seen the difference that volunteering efforts can make in people's lives. I know the personal value of service as a local volunteer.” — President Jimmy Carter
Thank you to all our incredible volunteers. Your collective passion, enthusiasm, and love is what made the 2024 Carter Work Project so special.
Everyone’s unique contributions have made a huge difference at The Heights development—and to our work in the Twin Cities and around the world. Your impact ripples for generations. While numbers can’t fully capture the spirit and enormity of the week, here are a few fun facts:
