Buenos Dias from Costa Rica! Day three of our work week and we are still having a great time.
Today was filled with much laughter, from watching the locals do a strange dance on the sidewalk, to having a little too much fun with a radish; we all can add sore sides from laughing to the laundry list of work-induced ailments we endure. Watching the walls go up keeps us motivated and gives us renewed energy to leave as much of a house as we can before parting ways.
We also made empanadas with Marcela and her family after the work stopped for the day. Even with the ever-present language barrier, it is still very clear that her entire family supports her so much and genuinely wants us there. They opened their home to us, offered a place to stay when we want to return to Costa Rica, and proudly gave us a tour of the farm and lake full of Tilapia. We learned how to communicate with smiles, sit down when told, and how NOT to make an empanada. Marcela and her family truly inspired us to work our hardest to complete a new home and taught us how strong community support can make a huge difference in lives.
