Last week on November 10, Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity celebrated a special home dedication in Richfield. The home, where new homebuyers Hana Guche and Aschalew Beyene will live, was given to Habitat by a special longtime volunteer and donor, Larry Hossfeld. A retired engineer, Larry has volunteered at Twin Cities Habitat for 20 years, and this is the third house he has donated.
Larry graciously spoke at the dedication and humbly said, “I am fortunate to have free time, and that I can spend it doing work on this house. I’m certainly happy that this family will live here.” Sharon Mason, a longtime Habitat supporter herself, led those in attendance in prayer. She also shared a few words about her own personal experience with Larry, “He’s always been so nice to work with…[The house] is a work of beauty and reflects the beauty of the person who worked on it.”
Hana Guche, the new homeowner, also addressed everyone at the dedication. With tears in her eyes, Hana said that when they discovered that they were approved to become Habitat homeowners, “It was an exciting moment, and we started dreaming. Becoming a homeowner is a turning point in our lives.”
