Ten new Habitat homes will get roofs thanks to GAF partnership
Minneapolis - GAF, North America’s largest roofing manufacturer, is donating materials and labor for ten homes that will be built by Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity volunteers this year. GAF began a nationwide effort to support Habitat for Humanity in 2011.
GAF works with a collection of certified contractors including All American Restoration, Garlock French Roofing Corporation, Krech Exteriors, Roof Company NA, Inc. and Springer Construction Services. These contractors will provide the labor pro-bono to install the donated roofs for the Habitat homes in the Twin Cities.
Twin Cities Habitat volunteers will build or rehab 50-55 homes in 2013. Low-income working families buy the homes and pay an affordable mortgage that goes back to Habitat so more homes can be built. Families must also perform hundreds of hours of sweat equity as volunteers and complete homeowner training courses before purchasing their Habitat home.
GAF Regional Manager Lance Hoaglund says supporting Habitat deepens his company’s commitment to the communities where it does business. "We are American made, American owned, and support any way we can contribute to the betterment of our country," Lance said. "With numerous programs from the largest and most well know, Habitat for Humanity, to Roofs for Troops or No Roof Left Behind, all these programs help build a better community and give back to people in need."
Twin Cities Habitat counts on valuable in-kind donations, like GAF’s roof donation, to accomplish as much as it does for families. “GAF’s generosity lifts a lot of burden off us. They really do amazing, high quality work,” said Collette King, a Site Supervisor for Twin Cities Habitat.
