Delta Air Lines Employees Join Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity to Build Home in Pedestrian-Friendly Community

Volunteer efforts part of national fall build by Delta employees in six US cities

MINNEAPOLIS, Sept. 16, 2009 – Beginning today, nearly 500 Delta Air Lines (NYSE: DAL) employees will roll up their sleeves and partner with Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity as part of Delta’s commitment to build at least six new Habitat homes in six U.S. cities. Delta volunteers will construct at least one new home with Habitat affiliates in Atlanta, New York City, Cincinnati, Minneapolis-St. Paul (Twin Cities), Memphis and Detroit.

“Delta people have a long tradition of supporting the communities where we live and work with more than one million hours of service donated to Habitat for Humanity in the last decade,” said Ed Bastian, president of Delta Air Lines. “We are proud to be an integral part of making affordable, decent housing a reality for many low-income families around the world.”

In the Twin Cities, Delta employees will help build a home in Chaska’s Clover Ridge neighborhood, a smart-growth development which maximizes pedestrian-oriented design and land use, and promotes a safe and healthy community. The neighborhood features alleys and sidewalks for a more urban feel with easy access to nearby trails, schools, and a public transportation.

“Now more than ever, partnerships like the one we share with Delta are essential to our community’s well being, and play a critical role in rebuilding our nation,” said Susan Haigh, President and CEO of Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity.

“We are very appreciative of the support that Delta employees have provided to Habitat for Humanity,” Jonathan Reckford, CEO of Habitat for Humanity International. “They have impacted countless lives by participating in building projects around the world. Through a number of other initiatives, Delta Air Lines has brought important attention to the global need for affordable housing, and we are grateful for their partnership.”
