We arrived at our home for the week in Buenos Aires on Sunday afternoon. The ride from San Jose gave us time to renew old acquaintances and make new ones. We stopped at a beautiful public beach on the Pacific Ocean and waded in the warm salty water. A nice way to spend a Sunday in Costa Rica!
Today we left for our work sites early in order to get a good start before the heat of mid-day hit us. Before we left for the work sites a team member shared a reading with us. I want to share because it really hit home.
“One hundred years from now it won’t matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much money I had, or what my clothes looked like, BUT the world may be a little better because I was important in the life of a child”.
When we arrived at our work site we met the family who will live in one of the homes we are building this week - a single mom and her two year old son. .The reading from the morning suddenly became more meaningful. By working side by side to build a home for this family, I will be important in the life of a child. How cool is that?
