Twin Cities Habitat is throwing a fantastic party on October 1, and you’re invited! We’ll be celebrating the 2024 Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Work Project, President Carter’s 100th birthday, and the public launch of our Build Forward Together campaign. Here’s everything you need to know to make the most of your evening.
The event takes place at The Armory at 500 South 6th Street in downtown Minneapolis. You can park right at the venue, or find metered parking nearby or on ParkWhiz, SpotHero, or ParkMobile apps. Meter rates, time limits, and other restrictions vary; be sure to check details on your specific meter.
The Armory is located between the US Bank Stadium and Government Center stops on the light rail Green Line; check Metro Transit or the Metro Transit app for arrival and departure times. For taxi/rideshare info and driving directions, see the Armory website.
The Armory is an accessible venue, with elevator access to the event venue directly from their parking ramp, and has accessible restrooms on all levels.
The event is general admission but there will be reserved accessible seating and some non-reserved/opening seating available. For other accessibility needs or inquiries, please contact us at events@tchabitat.org.
Everyone who attends the Bash must register for a ticket via Ticketmaster. Once you register, your Ticketmaster account will have your ticket/QR code. Upon arriving at The Armory, please pull up your Ticketmaster account (via the Ticketmaster app or the Ticketmaster website) and show your QR code. NOTE: Paper tickets or printouts will not be accepted for entry.
6:00 p.m. - Venue doors open—read on for all the activities you can experience throughout the evening!
The party kicks off with St. Paul and the MPLS Funk All Stars, veterans of the Minneapolis music scene who've played with Price, The Time, and Mint Condition. In the tradition of Motown's Funk Brothers, St. Paul has assembled the who's-who crew of the Minneapolis Sound. A high-energy collective, their nostalgic yet fresh sound features powerful vocals, tight horn sections, and infectious rhythms that pay homage to the legendary sounds of Minneapolis funk and keep the dance floor hopping.
The evening will be hosted by Jonathan Scott, co-host of the Emmy-nominated franchise Property Brothers. Jonathan is an entrepreneur and home transformation television and lifestyle personality, the co-founder and CEO of Scott Brothers Global and Scott Brothers Entertainment. He’s also—along with his brother Drew—a Habitat Humanitarian, joining Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter, Garth Brooks, and Trisha Yearwood as champions of affordable housing in the United States and around the world.
The Bash takes place on President Jimmy Carter’s actual 100th birthday! We’ll have a special program to wish him well and celebrate his amazing impact and legacy.
After an opening set by St. Paul and the MPLS Funk All Stars, you’ll experience a brief program featuring speakers, videos, and inspiring stories about Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity’s Build Forward Together campaign. Speakers include Twin Cities Habitat CEO and President Chris Coleman, St. Paul Mayor Melvin Carter, and other leaders in Habitat’s work. You’ll learn how you can get engaged and build forward to expand homeownership and advance racial equity in housing.
At 8:00 p.m., our headline band takes the stage. Sly & The Family Stone is one of the most influential funk and soul groups in music history. Comprised of original members and new talents, The Family Stone infuses timeless hits with a fresh approach that electrifies and unites their audiences.
Yes! Concessions will be available for purchase.
The Advancing Black Homeownership exhibit is an immersive experience that focuses on the journey of housing and homeownership for Foundational Black Households. It engages the viewer using photos, videos, and information that highlights the challenges that Black families have endured to obtain the American Dream of their own home, and how Habitat is working toward making it a reality.
Have fun with our 360* photo booth! Experience your red carpet moment in this spinning photo booth—the camera rotates a full 360 degrees around a platform accommodating up to four adults. The camera captures a panoramic view and incorporates virtual backgrounds. Plus, we’ll have fun photo props to include in the 360 experience. See it in action here.
Bash attendees will have the opportunity to sign a section of foam insulation board that will be installed at The Heights this fall! This is a great way to share a message of love and support with the new Habitat homeowners who will live in this development. You can sign your name, write a brief message, or make a drawing. We look forward to seeing your creativity.
At the Bash, you’ll learn about our new campaign to Build Forward Together, which begins a new era of affordable housing at Twin Cities Habitat. There will be opportunities to pledge your support and become a housing hero!
YES!! This will be a night to remember, so invite your family and friends (ages 18+) and get your tickets here. Tickets are just $15 for the general public. If you're interested in attending and ticket cost is a barrier, email events@tchabitat.org for complimentary tickets.
The Bash wraps up at 9:15 p.m.
We look forward to celebrating with you on Oct. 1!
