Winter Break Boredom? Habitat's got a cure
Are you a student wondering what to do over winter break? Do you have students you’re trying to keep busy or entertained over break? Have they/you...
In 2013, we had over 17,000 people volunteer with Twin Cities Habitat. This year, we're hoping to recruit even more volunteers, and we have some new fun and unique ways for people to help out!
ReStore Donations Driver Volunteer
The ReStore is expanding! Volunteer drivers are needed on a weekly basis to pick up donations and deliver them to the ReStore to be sold. More product equals more proceeds. One hundred percent of the ReStore’s proceeds support Habitat's mission to eliminate poverty housing in the Twin Cities.
Family Services Home Interviewer
Habitat Family Services staff members match approved home buyers to available homes. Here's your chance to help us make successful partnerships! Volunteers with excellent communication and organizational skills, along with a compassionate mind frame are needed. Tasks include interviewing potential home buyers, completing interview packets and making recommendations regarding applicant’s need for housing and willingness to partner. Volunteers are expected to make a year commitment, attend committee meetings as scheduled and complete a minimum of seven interviews annually.
Youth Hands-On Workshop Volunteer
Even though they can’t build on a construction site, youth groups are eager to help build community across the metro. Groups have built Adirondack chairs sold at the ReStore, storage boxes given to Habitat families and plan on doing much more. Skilled Adult Volunteers are needed to lead and help plan these Hands-On Workshops. Workshop dates, times and locations vary based on group interest and volunteers are contacted on an on-call basis. Read more about this role.
In addition to the roles highlighted above, there are also plenty of non-construction volunteer positions available on a regular basis. Examples include Cookie Baker, Dedications Team, Events Team, ReStore Assistant, and many more! Learn about all these volunteer opportunities at http://blog.tchabitat.org/non-volunteer-construction-opportunities/, and if you're interested in any of the roles listed, please email volunteer@tchabitat.org or call 612-305-7114 for more information.
Your gift unlocks bright futures! Donate now to create, preserve, and promote affordable homeownership in the Twin Cities.
