If you ask a 3Mgives Habitat Project member what they’re most proud of, the answer may come as a surprise: “School buses. Two, big school buses.”

Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity (TCHFH) is excited to be kicking off an annual celebration of community by bringing together local Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) organizations, volunteers, and friends to eliminate poverty housing from the Twin Cities and to make decent, affordable shelter for all people a matter conscience.
TCHFH Rainbow Build Week is scheduled for Monday, August 26th – Friday, August 30th. We started with just one site in North Minneapolis for volunteer opportunities, but due to the popularity, a second site has been added! That means, we’ll have over 120 LGBT volunteers and friends coming together to build in the name of community.
Each day, volunteers will be doing all sorts of construction tasks, and over the lunch hour, we will have guided discussions on different topics that affect the LGBT population in specifically affordable housing issues. The topics will cover youth homelessness, housing discrimination, HIV/AIDS and housing, and LGBT Elderly struggles.
There are still plenty of volunteer openings, so get your friends together, or come volunteer on your own and meet some new ones!
If you can’t make it out to site for a whole day, but would still like to be involved, please consider contributing financially to support this initiative. You can be a part of Habitat history by helping us get our first ever TCHFH Rainbow Build Week off to a fabulous start!
To sign up to volunteer, go to www.tchabitat.volunteerhub.com, create an account, and then scroll down to the week of August 26th. From there you can sign up for one day, or multiple!
