Master Your Garden with the Master Gardeners

Master Your Garden with the Master Gardeners

The Master Gardener Program, which is run by the University of Minnesota Extension, has worked alongside Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity for the last seventeen years. The master gardener crew partners with Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity volunteers to landscape and plant new vegetation after construction on a Habitat home is completed. Every year, the Master Gardener program volunteers more than 127,000 hours around Minnesota, not only with Habitat for Humanity, but with a variety of places such as nursing homes and schools, where they teach people about horticulture and gardening. In addition to all the work the Master Gardeners do in the community, they also run a very informative website with gardening advice available to the public. On their website you can find everything from detailed information on caring for many types of indoor and outdoor plants, to a guide that helps you identify what that mystery insect wreaking havoc in your garden is.

Landscaping with Master Garderers

If you are interested in gardening and horticulture and would like to learn more about these topics, come join Habitat for Humanity and the Master Gardeners on one of Habitat’s landscaping days. You will get to work alongside the Master Gardeners, learning about the types of plants they use and why they use certain plants over others. You will learn tips and tricks to good planting procedures as well as interesting facts about native Minnesota plant species and how to care for them.
