Tenth Anniversary Entrepreneurs House under way in Minneapolis

Tenth Anniversary Entrepreneurs House under way in Minneapolis

In its tenth year, Entrepreneurs House is boasting
contributions from nearly 40 companies volunteering in minneapolisover a 10 week period. The idea is that as small companies alone, they cannot build a whole house, but united, they can build many. Every company contributes what they can, either financial donations, volunteers or both. The Steering Committee, run by Clarke Porter and Matt Forrester, is in charge of raising $120,000 in order to build.

The group has been working on roof trusses, reinforcing the basement and scaffolding and will continue to work on the South Minneapolis house until it is finished. The group is overwhelmingly full of energy and excitement even on cloudy or hot days.

Alicia, a Pearson employee, has been working with Entrepreneurs House for five years. When asked why she keeps coming back she said it's because she likes "to be outside and away from computers, plus I don’t have to go to kettlebell class today, because this IS my workout. And I get to help deserving people.”

Stacy Miller, the Coordinator from Pearson, says she likes "working with people in a way that you normally wouldn't in the office."

The neighborhood of the new home is great, it's close to transit lines, schools, parks and shopping. There are other families in the neighborhood and many of the volunteers live in the area (some even biked to the location!).
