Volunteer Appreciation Week| Highlighted Volunteer Opportunities

describe the imageVolunteers are integrated in all parts of Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity.  From building and repairing homes in the Homebuilding and A Brush With Kindness programs to working directly with homebuyers in our Family Service department, there are numerous options for all sorts of volunteers. For those of you who are new to Habitat or have been around for years, we’ve always got new and exciting ways to be involved! Here are some volunteer opportunities we’d like to highlight.

Summer Social Media Volunteer

Twin Cities Habitat’s spring/summer build season is ramping up, and we need your help to recognize and share the amazing work our volunteers, partners and staff do in support of our mission! Take your smartphone to Habitat sites, events and the ReStore and help generate content for us to share via social media. Volunteers are asked to visit a Habitat site or event at least two times per month throughout the summer.

Want to learn more or sign up?  Check out our Summer Social Media Volunteer service position!

House Month Volunteer

Are you looking for a fun, rewarding opportunity to build your construction and leadership skills this summer?  Individuals who are able to commit to volunteering 3+ days a week on a specific Habitat site for at least 3 weeks are needed this summer!  Consistent volunteers are a huge asset to the Site staff and have the opportunity to lead groups of volunteers and see the progress of their hard work week after week.  Opportunities to help provide a decent, affordable place to call home for hard working families are currently available in the 7 county metro area.

Check out our House Month opportunities.  Sign up soon, locations are on first come, first served basis.

Neighborhood Family Partner

Remember your first year in your home?  Who did you go to for advice and support?  Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity needs Neighborhood Family Partners to provide new Habitat homeowners with support and guidance in their new home and community.  Help create a welcoming climate for homebuyers committed to becoming successful homeowners and engaged citizens in their community.  Volunteers work with families for a minimum of 1 year and commit to meet with them at least 4 times in that year.

ReStore Help Desk Volunteer

Restore sales and customers have increased!  We need help answering customer questions in person and on the phone.  The ReStore is a retail outlet where quality building materials are sold at discounted prices.  All proceeds go right back into building more homes with Habitat.  Be a huge part of the ReStore’s success by helping the flow of customers in the store.  The ReStore is a fast paced environment, but this position is mainly seated at our check-out desk to be available for customer questions and to answer the phone.  2-8 hour shifts are available Monday-Saturday.
