2024 Carter Work Project by the Numbers

It's no secret that the 2024 Carter Work Project was made possible because of amazing homeowners, volunteers, sponsors, vendors, staff, and other dedicated folks. During the week, we also used many tools and supplies, from forklifts to bottled water. Read on for a breakdown of the 2024 Carter Work Project by the numbers!

  • 39 sponsor groups that sent volunteers

  • 38 states represented, including 1,237 volunteers from outside of Minnesota

  • 15 homeowners who shared their stories through public speaking, media interviews, videography, and photography

  • 15 elected officials from federal, state, county, and city government, in addition to appointed officials, public partners, and government staff

  • 10 local community partners with 140 volunteers

  • 3,677 pieces of scaffolding

  • 3,216 hard hats

  • 1,200 pieces of sheathing

  • 1,000 individual power tools

  • 1,000 tape measures

  • 1,000 utility knives

  • 160 sawhorses handmade by volunteers

  • 150 ladders

  • 120 pallets of flooring

  • 80 deliveries of materials to site from our warehouse

  • 70 gaylord boxes handmade by volunteers and used to organize tools

  • 45 eight-foot panels of picket fences constructed

  • 30 units of Habitat homes worked on, including single-family homes, twin homes, and 3- and 4-unit townhomes

  • 6 forklifts used to move materials on site

  • 5.5 tons of nails and other fasteners used

Hospitality

  • 12,000 bottles of water donated by the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community

  • 11,505 units of Powerade, Coke, and Diet Coke served by We Cater to You

  • 11,000 meals (breakfast and lunch) served by Chef Jeff Catering

  • 1,000+ servings of leftover safe-to-serve food donated, thanks to Chef Jeff’s food rescue efforts (recipient organizations: Damascus Way Reentry Center via Second Harvest and Northside Haven Pantry)

  • 283 bus trips by Minnesota Coaches

  • 280+ bus trips throughout the week bringing volunteers and staff to and from events and the build site

  • 14 golf carts used to transport people, snacks, beverages, trash, and construction materials
