Bush Avenue

Bush Avenue

Update 3- July 26, 2010puff3

At the start of the tenth week of work, the main focus is on the exterior of this new build on Bush Ave. A fresh group of volunteers is working all around the house to complete its beautiful siding. While cement for the garage is being poured in the back, other tasks include painting trim on the first and second floor windows, installing siding in the front and back of the home, and following the siding with two coats of paint. The team is eager to completely weatherproof the exterior so they can get to work inside, starting with priming.

Update 2- July 1,2010puff4

As week six wraps, this St. Paul build is showing significant signs of progress, particularly on the inside. With framing finished, electric and plumbing roughed in, and walls insulated, site supervisor Betsy Reller says this week’s main task has been putting up drywall, which volunteers helped finish yesterday. Volunteers have also been outside, putting up siding and constructing the front porch. After next week’s hiatus, during which a professional taper will tape the entire house, Betsy says her crew will be busy painting, adding flooring, and installing doors, as well as finishing the siding.

It’s the middle of week four of the build on Bush Avenue in St. Paul, and a looming framing inspection weighs heavily on the minds of the crew. After getting rained out two days the previous week volunteers are busy hanging doors, installing windows and adding soffit and fascia to the outside of the home. In the upcoming days the crew that consists of a congregational coalition, corporate group and retirees will work on insulating and siding. All things considered this newly constructed home should be finished by early August.
