Update 2- July 19, 2010
At the start of week five, site supervisor Tony Beckstrom and his team from General Mills are hard at work on the back roof of this rehab. Now that the roof has been elevated to create more room, the team must fill the side walls, install new studs, and extend the existing walls. Another significant interior project requires the team to remove and completely rebuild the main staircase. Once the roof and staircase are solidly in place, the crew will begin work on the interior walls and the basement early next week.

Update 1- June 28, 2010
After a lead abatement delay, this North Minneapolis rehab is now in its second week. Volunteers from General Mills are helping with demolition, which site supervisor Tony Beckstrom hopes to finish in the next day. Although the house will require several rehab projects, Tony cites the biggest task will be lifting up the back roof to increase headroom for the top floor bedrooms. This week’s goal is to tear off the back roof and build elevated frames. Despite all the work ahead, Tony notes one happy benefit: recycling the home’s cellulose insulation for a nearby Habitat build.
