Jessie Street Rehab
Update 1-July 12, 2010
Update 1-June 16, 2010
This house is in its third construction week. As with most rehabs, there were initial concerns over hidden issues that might delay building; luckily, demolition revealed no major setbacks. Site supervisor Dave Madzo is pleased with the home’s current condition, deeming it structurally sound. “It should be a fairly quick rehab,” he says. The wood floor will be preserved and prepared for sale at Twin Cities Habitat’s ReStore. Volunteers from the Northwest Coalition of Churches are here this week, finishing the second level’s rough framing and dismantling the detached garage. Upcoming tasks include rough framing the main level and insulating both floors.

Update 2- June 30, 2010
Now in its fifth week of construction, this rebuild is undergoing some major rehab projects, most notably the exterior, which was recently stripped. With the help of volunteers from a church coalition and medical supply company, site supervisor Dave Madzo plans to install house wrap and put up siding by the end of the week. Also new outside is the front yard flower garden, planted earlier this week with the help of neighborhood kids. Once the electrical wiring is set up, AmeriCorps member Collette King says the next big task will be interior insulation.
