A Year of

Transformation

Annual Report 2021-2022

As a member of the big-hearted Twin Cities Habitat community, you have set the stage for us to grow and transformtogether.

The last year has been truly transformational for Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity. And it would not have been possible without you.

You ramped up your volunteer time. You set the stage for a groundbreaking Foundational Black Homeownership Study that reshaped our Homeownership Program. You donated more than any other year—and that was before you helped us land our biggest single donation ever.

The housing crisis facing us is big. But momentum is on our side.

Thank you for being a member of this vibrant, big-hearted, and determined Habitat community.

The Mission of Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity:
Bring people together to create, preserve, and promote affordable homeownership and advance racial equity in housing.

The 2022 fiscal year was one of rebirth and growth as we emerged from the pandemic and rallied around Habitat’s mission. More people came together to build homes and serve in the ReStore. More local families bought Habitat homes. More advocates raised their voices for affordable homeownership. And donors stepped up to donate more money than ever before.

This is the impact you made.

The Values of Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity:
Rooted in faith and community | Inspired by hope | Committed to anti-racism | Driven to innovate

Whether you’re a Habitat client, homeowner, donor, volunteer, advocate, staff, AmeriCorps member, community partner, or funder—you’re part of this dedicated, generous, hopeful Habitat community. Each and every day, people come together from all walks of life across the Twin Cities to put their values into action with Habitat.

This is your community.

In total, 677 households partnered

with Twin Cities Habitat this year, including 89 families who bought homes they love and can afford.

Think of the multi-generational impact you help create for each of these families. To get an idea, look at Deborah’s family. Five generations of her family have been blessed by her home. The walls are covered with love and happy memories. And one day, the home will be passed on to the next generation.

“I was blessed with this house through Habitat, so I want to be a blessing to anybody else who needs a place to stay, or a place to eat. My house is always open.”

– Deborah, Habitat homeowner since 1998

The Vision of Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity:
An equitable Twin Cities region where all families have access to the transformational power of homeownership.

Over the last 37 years, supporters like you have built a rock-solid foundation for our work, growing Twin Cities Habitat into one of the top-producing affiliates in the nation. That strong foundation enables innovation—like creating historic banking partnerships, removing barriers to homeownership, and setting our sights on even bigger changes to come as we work together to make our vision a reality.

This is the transformation you make possible.

Build Forward Together Logo_Vertical_White

Since 1985, more than 1,600 families

have unlocked the dream of homeownership with Twin Cities Habitat. Thousands more have been impacted by our programs. You make that possible. But homeownership is out of reach for too many of your neighbors. We know we can do more and do better.

So in January 2022, Twin Cites Habitat launched the Build Forward Together Strategic Plan
